Dr. Gerri Competiello is a highly experienced audiologist and hearing aid specialist providing comprehensive hearing care at SightMD’s Smithtown location on Long Island, New York. With extensive clinical, academic, and industry experience, Dr. Competiello brings a unique depth of knowledge in hearing amplification and advanced audiology care.

Dr. Competiello earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology and her Master of Arts in Audiology from Adelphi University, before completing her Doctor of Audiology degree at Salus University. She further advanced her training through a clinical fellowship at the Lenox Hill Cochlear Implant Center, where she gained specialized experience in complex hearing loss and implantable hearing technologies.

Throughout her career, Dr. Competiello has trained at some of the nation’s most respected institutions, including Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, working alongside leading otolaryngologists and audiologists. Her experience also includes serving as a clinical trainer for a major hearing aid manufacturer, giving her advanced insight into the latest hearing aid technology and treatment approaches.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Competiello is an Associate Professor of Audiology with the Long Island Consortium at St. John’s University, where she plays an active role in training future audiologists. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and is licensed in New York State for both audiology and hearing aid dispensing.

Dr. Competiello is passionate about helping patients better understand their hearing health and provides personalized care focused on improving communication, confidence, and overall quality of life. Her approach combines advanced diagnostics with tailored hearing solutions to ensure each patient receives the most effective and comfortable treatment.
