Dr. Andrew Bainnson is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist providing advanced eye care in Smithtown and Deer Park, New York. Serving patients across Long Island for decades, Dr. Bainnson is highly experienced in the diagnosis, medical management, and laser treatment of glaucoma and other complex eye conditions.

Dr. Bainnson began practicing in 1994 and has built a strong reputation throughout Suffolk County for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered ophthalmic care. His expertise includes treating all forms of glaucoma, as well as a wide range of eye conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, vascular disorders, and eye infections.

He completed his medical degree at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College. Dr. Bainnson further advanced his training with a fellowship in glaucoma and anterior segment surgery at the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan—one of the nation’s leading ophthalmology programs.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bainnson has contributed to ophthalmic research, including pharmacology studies conducted during his time at the University of Michigan, with published findings in the Journal of Pharmacology. His commitment to education and excellence is further reflected in his teaching roles and hospital affiliations, including St. Catherine of Siena Hospital.

A Long Island native who grew up in Plainview, Dr. Bainnson is deeply committed to serving his local community. He believes that the most rewarding part of his job is making a difference in the lives of his patients.
